Kibber to Tso Moriri (Karzok) over the Parang La
(La means pass in Tibetan)

This trail follows the traditional trade route between the people of Spiti, Changthang and Tibet. The trail crosses the Parang La which is the source of the Pare Chu river.

The pass lies on the trade route between Ladakh and the Spiti Valley, and in earlier times the merchants from Ladakh used to cross these passes and gather at the La Darcha grounds in the Spiti valley for a trade fair. This fair was also attended by merchants from Kullu and Kinnaur. Currently the fair is held at the block headquarters at Kaza. Trekkers taking this trip must be very well acclimatised to the altitude.
