The Cultural Trail

Home to some of the oldest Buddhist monasteries and temples in the world, this Trail provides the key to those interested in a peek into Spitian life, culture and Buddhist heritage. Set on the highlands of this magnificent valley, the trail traverses along Spiti’s (and Asia’s highest villages) highest settlements. Each village along this trail is adorned by unique and ancient Buddhist monasteries and temples dating back to over a 1000 years and encased in legend and folklore. The homestay accommodation along the trail further enriches the experience by giving one an authentic understanding of the life and culture in a Spitian home. Your hosts are the local people of Spiti, accommodating you in their homes to enhance your sojourn in Spiti.

The traveler, as per their choice and convenience can also choose to traverse this trail on mountain bikes or yaks. Local cultural dances can be organized in the villages on prior request giving one a glimpse of cultural festivities.

This itinerary can also be run in reverse (starting and ending in Shimla) provided the route is operational. The trip can also be booked as a Delhi to Delhi trip, wherein the Delhi to Manali/Shimla and Manali/Shimla to Delhi add on’s can be designed as per your need and convenience.

**The road to Spiti valley via the Kunzam pass usually opens for vehicular traffic in the beginning of June, Tours in the month of May will be routed as

Shimla – Spiti – Shimla and will incorporate the tour itinerary in reverse with minor adjustments (if the pass is closed for vehicles).
